What is WordPress Project Success and How Can You Achieve It?

Everybody in our industry loves to talk about “best practices”—but what does that really mean, and what does it mean to you?

When someone refers to “best practices”, they’re typically talking about the processes or steps that you can take to boost your chances of success. These are the tried-and-true approaches that other project managers and I have developed through our years of experience.

They’re also the same best practices that we teach over at the Academy—because if you achieve success through what we’re doing in our programs, then we all celebrate success together. (That’s the beauty of the digital agency world, after all!)

This isn’t your first rodeo. You’re gaining leads, working on your communication, and developing your relationships with clients. But here’s how we think you can make what you’re already doing even more effective.

If you’ve stuck around with us for long enough, you know that the hallmarks of effective project management are related to on-time completion, staying within budget, and eliminating content bottlenecks. That’s what these best practices are all about.

The six best practices for ensuring project success are:

  • Make the customer part of the project team
  • Use a two-step proposal process or a separate discovery process.
  • Use a repeatable, measurable, and defendable estimating process.
  • Use a content first development approach.
  • Use incremental acceptance.
  • Invoke your change control process without exception.

I’m not going to go into major detail here—I might be biased, but I think it’s really worth it to check out the best-practices breakdown we’ve laid out in the video, complete with images and graphics to make sure you have the full picture.
